A Proud History…putting clients first since 1938

Farley & Thompson has been a private client stockbroking firm since 1938 and we proudly remain one of the few fully independent corporate members of the London Stock Exchange. Based on the South Coast our success is founded on putting our clients first, helping them to achieve their financial goals and objectives.

We have clients across the UK and others who live overseas. The majority are private individuals and families, some of whom have been clients of the firm since the earliest days. We also advise those who are just starting out investing as well as established business owners and the retired. In addition, we act for charities, trusts and pension funds and are always happy to work in close relationship with third parties. Our professional clients include solicitors and accountants, many of whom trust us to act for them on their own clients’ behalf.

We pride ourselves in offering a very personal service and all clients are welcome to visit us at our Bath Road office.

…A proven team

Our commitment to building long term relationships with our clients is reflected in the dedication and stability of our partners and senior personnel, several of whom have been with the firm for many years.

For those unfamiliar with the stockmarket any one of the broking team will be happy to help over the telephone or in the comfort and privacy of our Bournemouth office. We will describe what support Farley & Thompson can offer you from our range of services depending on your investment experience and requirements. We will explain your options, help you set investment objectives and work with you to achieve them. Additionally, if you have complex financial planning requirements and need the services of other financial or legal specialists, we will be happy to introduce you to one of our professional contacts.

Many clients enjoy the continuity of working with one particular team member and our intention is always to enable our clients to be comfortable about their investment decisions, and to feel they can seek as much or as little advice as they wish.

Our qualified and experienced professionals are backed up by a dedicated, loyal and client-focused support team all of whom maintain an ethos of service and concern for our clients.

…A prudent approach

We specialise in advice on blue chip equities, fixed interest bonds and collective investment funds but our stockbrokers are always happy to discuss in person any particular investment issues or ideas clients may wish to explore.

For those who would like exposure to global markets or thematic sectors, or for clients with a general preference for pooled investments, we research a wide range of collective investment funds covering both active and passive strategies. These include investment trusts, unit trusts, open-ended investment companies and exchange traded funds. Being independent of any fund manager or financial institution and not running any in-house funds you can be reassured that our preferred investments have been selected for their individual merits, especially a consistent track record of investment performance.

Central to our investment approach is the belief in capital preservation and the importance of dividend income to longer term investor returns. Traditional doesn’t have to mean out-dated and we understand how important your financial security is and seek to provide recommendations or manage your wealth in a measured and risk averse manner.

As an independent provider of both advisory and discretionary services we select and manage investments from across a wide range of opportunities but as we do not advise on all retail products, under the Financial Conduct Authority rules, we are defined as offering a “restricted” service.
